Media Campaigns

To promote and celebrate NPPW, California Poison Control System (CPCS) launched a Poison Prevention Media Campaign, airing COVID-19 and traditional poison prevention Public Service Announcements from March 15 to April 11, 2021. CPCS worked with Univision Communications, Cox Media San Diego, Spectrum Los Angeles, EffecTV San Francisco, Fresno & Sacramento, and KTVU Bay Area—media companies who distributed CPCS PSAs to the following markets: statewide with a focus on San Diego, San Francisco, Sacramento, Fresno, Los Angeles, and Oakland.

Virtual Rattlesnake Awareness Day

Presented live at Fresno Chaffee Zoo, Dr. Rais Vohra, the Medical Director of the CPCS Fresno/Madera Division, and Mark Halvorsen, the curator of reptiles, hosted Virtual Rattlesnake Awareness Day, on March 25, 2021. During the live virtual presentation, Dr. Vohra and Mark Halvorsen presented on the topic of rattlesnake bites and poison exposure, rattlesnake safety and first aid tips, and how to get help in an event of a snake bite.

Community-Based Organization 2021 NPPW Activities

Fresno Interdenominational Refugee Ministries (FIRM), a Community-Based Organization partner of CPCS, hosted various NPPW activities from March 21-27, 2021 including: A Virtual Concert & Health Fair on Hmong TV Network, Poison Prevention Art Contest, and daily poison prevention TV programming on Hmong TV Network.
